Bailey & Glasser LLP Twilight Crit ACC Race Recap

They say that lightning doesn’t strike twice, but that’s exactly what happened at the Bailey & Glasser LLP Twilight Crit on Saturday night. Just a stone’s throw away from the Idaho State Capitol in downtown Boise, L39ION of Los Angeles doubled up by winning both the Pro Men’s and Pro Women’s American Criterium Cup races. It was a day of doubles that started off with Skylar Schneider sprinting to the win in front of Aline Seitz of HigherDOSE | Renova.

Schneider, the overall leader of the ACC, wore the red leader’s jersey from MUMU Apparel and thus was one of the most heavily marked riders in the field. With thousands of dollars of primes on the line, the race was fast and aggressive. In fact, the Bailey & Glasser LLP Twilight Crit is said to be the fastest crit in the entire country with average speeds around 30 mph.

The flat course paradoxically became a race of attrition, and on the final lap, there were fewer than 10 riders left in contention for the win. L39ION of Los Angeles had control, but out of the final corner, it was Seitz who got the jump on Schneider. The leader of the ACC had been runner-up just two weeks ago at the Tour of America’s Dairyland – Was Schneider destined to finish second again?

Not this time…Schneider burst out of the draft in Boise to take a clear victory in front of Seitz and Kimberly Lucie, strengthening her lead in the ACC and delivering for L39ION of Los Angeles. The same kit was on the front of the Pro Men’s race just half an hour later. With many riders missing the Bailey & Glasser LLP Twilight Crit due to conflicting race schedules, L39ION of Los Angeles was the dominant force; but they weren’t without a challenger.

Two powerhouse teams in the ACC – Chaney Windows and Doors Big Shark pb Pastaria and Velovit Elite – brought full squads to Boise in an attempt to score big ACC points and go after the race win. But perhaps the biggest challenger to L39ION of Los Angeles was a single rider: Luke Lamperti of EF Education-EasyPost. Lamperti earned his biggest professional victory earlier this year at Paris-Nice, and despite being solo in Boise, he was the rider everyone was watching out for.

The pink kit of EF Education-EasyPost was on the front constantly, sprinting for primes and closing down dangerous breakaways. Lamperti earned more than two thousand dollars in primes, crucially spending some energy before the race’s finale. Coming into the final few laps, a number of strong breakaways had gone off the front. As the sun set over downtown Boise, Tyler Williams (L39ION of Los Angeles) was off the front with a 12-second gap. A small group of chasers were trying to make it across, but the field was bearing down on them as the sprint leadouts began.

Clif Family Drifters Cycling ramped up the pace lap after lap, but with a half-lap to go, it looked like Tyler Williams was going to make it. The L39ION of Los Angeles rider had time to celebrate, crossing the line with his arms aloft, the second rider in the Pro Men’s to win solo at the Bailey & Glasser LLP Twilight Crit after Luke Fetzer pulled it off in 2025. Sofia Arreola also won solo in 2025, taking the win in the Pro Women’s race. Attacking alone seems to be the winning move in Boise.

The day couldn’t get any better for L39ION of Los Angeles who completed the 1-2 with Justin Williams winning the field sprint. Preston Eye (Clif Family Drifters Cycling) rounded out the podium, while Lamperti finished fourth and Ben Boroff (Velovit Elite) finished fifth.

There was a big shake-up in the ACC Pro Men’s Overall standings with series leader Lucas Bourgoyne missing from the start sheet. Justin Williams (L39ION of Los Angeles) is the new leader of the ACC sponsored by Renaissance Financial, and there are now tight points gaps at the top of the table. Owen Gillot leads the Davis Phinney Foundation Sprint Prime competition and will wear the leader’s green jersey into Round 4 at Chicago GRIT.
